Kettneraspis (Leonaspis) Williamsii,

Leonaspis Williamsii, Middle Devonian trilobite over 400 million years old. Location Djebel Issoumour, Morocco, N Africa. Really nice detail on this trilobite with the spines laying flat and well defined. Some eye detail visible, a really nice well preserved Trilobite all round..

Trilobites were marine arthropods with 3 longitudinal lobes. They lived for nearly 300 years Fromm the Cambrian to the end of the Permian extinction. Fossil records show that they ranged hugely in size, some species only being a few mm to others growing to over a foot long. They lived on the sea floor filtering waste from the sea beds and scavenging remains. Trilobites are fascinating because they are one of the few species that have left behind the most incredibly detailed fossil remains.
